The Category Icons Addon for WPAdverts is a premium extension designed to replace the standard text or generic font icons in your classifieds directory with custom images. It’s a straightforward “visual upgrade” tool that helps make your categories more recognizable and professional.

The addon is intentionally lightweight and integrates directly into the existing WordPress interface.
Two-Icon System: It allows you to upload two different sizes for each category:
Small Icon (16×16 px): Used in the Categories Widget and the [adverts_categories] shortcode when displaying “all” categories.
Big Icon (64×64 px): Used in the [adverts_categories] shortcode when displaying only top-level categories.
Map Integration: If you are also using the Maps and Locations extension, these custom icons will automatically appear as markers on your map.
Media Library Support: You can upload images directly or pick existing ones from your WordPress Media Library.
The addon doesn’t have a separate settings menu; it adds new fields to your existing categories.
Install & Activate: Upload the .zip file via Plugins > Add New.
Edit Categories: Navigate to Classifieds > Categories.
Upload Icons: Click “Edit” on any category. You will see two new fields: Small Icon and Big Icon.
Save: Once uploaded, the icons will automatically replace the defaults on your frontend.
Image Sizes: While the plugin recommends 16px and 64px, you can use larger images. However, if they look distorted, you may need a plugin like Simple Image Sizes to define those specific dimensions or Regenerate Thumbnails if you’re using older images.
Shortcode Display: To see your new icons, make sure you are using the category shortcode: [adverts_categories].
