The WPAdverts – Restricted Categories Addon is a niche but powerful extension designed to give you granular control over how your classifieds are organized and who can post where.

The plugin serves two main purposes: Organization and Content Protection.
Locking “Parent” Categories: You can prevent users from posting in top-level categories (e.g., “Vehicles”) and force them to choose a specific sub-category (e.g., “Motorcycles” or “Cars”). This keeps your search results clean and your site easy to navigate.
User Role Restrictions: You can restrict specific categories so that only certain user roles (like “Moderators” or “Premium Members”) can post in them.
Disclaimer Enforcement: For sensitive or adult-oriented categories, you can force visitors to view and accept a custom disclaimer before they can see the listings or post their own.
Cookie Memory: Once a user accepts a disclaimer for a restricted category, the plugin remembers their choice so they aren’t pestered every time they click back.
Configuring the addon is straightforward and doesn’t require any coding:
Activation: Once installed, it adds a “Restricted” option to your existing WPAdverts categories.
Category Settings: Go to Classifieds > Categories. When you edit a category, you’ll see a checkbox to mark it as Restricted.
Custom Messages: Under Classifieds > Settings > Restricted Categories, you can write the specific text for your “User Disclaimer” (for viewing) and “Disclaimer for Posting.”
Frontend Experience: When a user attempts to select a restricted category in the [adverts_add] form, the category will either be unselectable or will trigger the required disclaimer.
SEO & UX: Search engines and humans both hate “misc” buckets. Forcing users into sub-categories ensures your data is structured.
Spam Prevention: By restricting certain categories to registered or “trusted” roles, you significantly cut down on junk listings.
Monetization Strategy: You can use this alongside the Fee Per Category addon to make certain high-value categories “Invite Only” or “Pro Only.”
