CSV File Upload: The most common method. You can upload a standard .csv file exported from Excel, Google Sheets, or other CRM tools.
Copy and Paste: For smaller lists or quick additions, you can paste raw text (email, name, etc.) directly into a text area.
WordPress User Integration: A dedicated option to import existing WordPress registered users into your newsletter subscriber database.
MailPoet Import: Specific built-in logic to detect and migrate subscribers directly from a MailPoet installation on the same site.
The plugin allows you to map your file columns to specific subscriber fields. Supported fields include:
Core Fields: Email (Required), First Name, Last Name, Gender.
Location Data: Country, Region, and City.
Custom Fields: If you have created “Extra Profile Fields” in the plugin settings, you can map CSV columns to these custom slots.
Status Mapping: You can manually set the status for the entire import (e.g., set all to “Confirmed,” “Not Confirmed,” or “Bounced”).
When the importer finds an email address that already exists in your database, you can choose one of three behaviors:
Update: Updates existing subscriber info with the new data from the file.
Overwrite: Replaces the existing record entirely with the new data.
Skip: Ignores the record in the file and keeps the existing subscriber data as-is.
Batch Processing: The importer processes subscribers in small “chunks” (usually 50–100 at a time via AJAX) to prevent server timeouts or memory errors on limited hosting environments.
List Assignment: You can automatically assign all imported subscribers to one or more specific Lists (segments) during the process.
Suppression: The plugin can be set to ignore emails that are already marked as “Unsubscribed” or “Bounced” to maintain list hygiene.
No Welcome Emails: By default, the plugin does not send “Welcome” or “Activation” emails to imported users to avoid spamming them during a migration.
Free Add-on: While the core plugin is free, the “Advanced Import” features are often handled by a free companion add-on available within the plugin’s “Add-ons” dashboard.
Format: CSV files should ideally use a comma (,) or semicolon (;) as a delimiter.
