Core Functionality

• Access Control: Restrict specific Pages, Posts, Products, Custom Post Types, and even specific URLs.

• Restriction Types: * Complete Restriction: Hides content entirely.

  • Limited Restriction: Shows an excerpt/teaser.

  • Redirection: Redirects non-members to a specific page (e.g., a pricing table).

• Plan Management: Create unlimited membership plans with varying durations (days, weeks, months, years).

• Member Dashboard: Provides a frontend “My Account” area where members can view their active plans, expiry dates, and download history.

Integration & Extensions

One of SUMO’s strengths is its “modular” nature. To unlock its full potential, it often requires other plugins from the SUMO suite:

• SUMO Subscriptions (Required for Recurring): By default, SUMO Memberships handles one-time payments. To charge weekly/monthly fees, you must use the SUMO Subscriptions plugin.

• SUMO Reward Points: Allows you to grant special point-earning rates based on a user’s membership tier.

• SUMO Affiliates: Create an affiliate system where members can earn commissions for referring others.

Key Features

• Content Dripping: Schedule when content becomes available to members (e.g., Lesson 2 becomes available 7 days after signup).

• Membership Transfer: Admins or users (if enabled) can transfer a membership plan from one user account to another.

• Linked Plans: Purchasing one membership plan can automatically grant access to “sub-plans” or related tiers.

• Default Plans: Automatically assign a “Free” or “Guest” membership level to every user who registers on your site.

• Search Engine Visibility: Options to allow or block search engines from indexing restricted content.
