The integration automates the “syncing” process between the directory’s custom structures and WPML’s translation engine.
Listing Translation: Translate individual directory listings into multiple languages.
Taxonomy Support: Full translation for Categories, Locations, and Tags.
Directory Type Sync: One-click translation for different directory types (e.g., “Restaurants” vs “Hotels”).
Dashboard Localization: Makes the Directorist user dashboard (front-end) multilingual for your listing owners.
Email Templates: Automatically sends notification emails to users in their preferred language.
Settings & Strings: Built-in compatibility to translate labels and buttons in the search forms and settings panel via WPML String Translation.
Automatic Synchronization: Recent updates (v2.2.1+) include built-in synchronization for _directory_type meta across languages, meaning you no longer need extra code snippets to keep categories linked to their respective directory types in different languages.
String Domains: When translating UI elements, you will primarily look under the directorist and admin_texts_atbdp_option text domains within WPML.
Custom Fields: If you use the Directorist Form Builder, you must set these fields to “Translate” under WPML → Settings → Custom Field Translation to make them appear in the Translation Editor.
If listings or categories are not appearing in the second language:
Navigate to WPML → Settings → Post Types Translation.
Ensure atbdp_listing (Listings) is set to Translatable.
Check that the translated version of the listing is set to Published, not Draft.
